Percentage = (Part / Whole) × 100. For example, if you scored 45 out of 50, percentage = (45/50) × 100 = 90%. This formula helps express a portion as a fraction of 100.

Percentage Increase = ((New Value - Old Value) / Old Value) × 100. For example, if salary increased from ₹50,000 to ₹55,000, increase = ((55000-50000)/50000) × 100 = 10%.

If you know the final amount after a percentage change, use: Original = Final / (1 + percentage/100) for increase, or Final / (1 - percentage/100) for decrease. Example: After 20% discount, price is ₹800. Original = 800/(1-0.2) = ₹1000.
